Special five-day parliament session commences with focus on key bills and Parliamentary milestones     Back

A special five-day session of Parliament is set to begin on Monday, 18 September 2023. This session will commence with a significant discussion in Lok Sabha, focusing on the achievements, experiences, memories, and learnings from the 75-year-long parliamentary journey. The session will witness deliberations on various bills, including the crucial Bill regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners.

The opening day of the session will primarily be dedicated to reflecting on the remarkable Parliamentary Journey of 75 years.

The government has also enlisted several bills for discussion during this session. Notably, the Bill concerning the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other election commissioners.

Among the bills scheduled for discussion are the Advocates (Amendment) Bill, the Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, and the Post Office Bill. These bills hold relevance in their respective domains and will be thoroughly scrutinized and debated.

It is worth mentioning that the Advocates (Amendment) Bill and the Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill have already received approval from Rajya Sabha and are now awaiting consideration in Lok Sabha. On the other hand, the Post Office Bill and the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Condition of Service, and Term of Office) Bill have already been introduced in Rajya Sabha.
