India issues advisory for Indian nationals and students in Canada     Back
(15:28, 20 Sep 2023)
India has issued an advisory for Indian nationals and students in Canada due to the increasing anti-India activities, politically-condoned hate crimes, and criminal violence. The advisory urges individuals to exercise caution and avoid traveling to regions and venues in Canada where such incidents have occurred.

"In view of growing anti-India activities and politically-condoned hate crimes and criminal violence in Canada, all Indian nationals there and those contemplating travel are urged to exercise utmost caution. Recently, threats have particularly targeted Indian diplomats and sections of the Indian community who oppose the anti-India agenda. Indian nationals are therefore advised to avoid travelling to regions and potential venues in Canada that have seen such incidents," the Ministry of External Affairs said.

The Indian High Commission/Consulates General will maintain communication with Canadian authorities to ensure the safety of the Indian community. Indian students are advised to be extremely cautious and vigilant in light of the deteriorating security environment. It is also mandatory for Indian nationals and students in Canada to register with the High Commission or Consulates General through their websites or the MADAD portal. This registration will facilitate better communication and assistance in case of emergencies or untoward incidents.
