According to a latest update from the IMD, the Southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from remaining parts of north Arabian Sea, some parts of Central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Gujarat & Madhya Pradesh, some parts of Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha, some parts of south India, some more parts of Chhattisgarh, some parts of Odisha, entire Jharkhand, Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, some more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, entire northeast India and some parts of north Bay of Bengal.

Conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from some more parts of north Bay of Bengal, most parts of East and central India, some more parts of south and west India and central Arabian Sea during next 2days. Reversal of surface and low level winds from westerly to easterly is persisting over the southeastern parts of peninsular India during the past 72 hours and the easterly wind is likely to strengthen during the next few days.

With the gradual withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon over the northern and central parts of India, conditions are becoming favourable for commencement of northeast monsoon around 17th October, 2019. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning likely over parts of south peninsular India during next 4-5 day.
