Market may open with small losses     Back
(08:25, 08 Apr 2019)

Trading of Nifty 50 index futures on the Singapore stock exchange indicates that the Nifty could fall 6.25 points at the opening bell.

Overseas, Asian shares edged higher on Monday as investors cheered a much-needed rebound in US payrolls, while looking forward to more policy stimulus in China.

US stocks rose on Friday, boosted by better-than-expected job growth in March, which eased concerns of an economic slowdown that have periodically roiled financial markets over the past year.

Back home, shares bounced back on Friday, 5 April 2019 after sliding in past two trading sessions. Gains were supported by upbeat global cues amid hopes of an end to the skirmish between US and China. The Sensex rose 177.51 points or 0.46% to settle at 38,862.23. The Nifty 50 index rose 67.95 points or 0.59% to settle at 11,665.95.

The trading activity on that day showed that the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 797.90 crore on Friday, 5 April 2019, as per provisional data released by the stock exchanges. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 325.58 crore on Friday, 5 April 2019, as per provisional data.
